Inspired by Raven Games London's PCB Video, in 2001 I made a 3 hour long* VHS tape (LP) containing footage from Japanese arcade action games from my collection covering the following formats: Sony PlayStation. Sega Saturn. JAMMA PCB. Obviously this was before YouTube and my aim was to showcase titles to those not in the know regarding what gems were available. Most in the scene at the time unbelievably still regarded the PlayStation as a 3D only gaming orientated format and not the mighty 2D powerhouse that we know and love, the over hyped rubbish that is Radiant Silvergun to be the be all and end all for the Saturn and JAMMA gaming in the home still an unreachable dream. The profits from the sales of this tape through partnerships with various UK grey importers as my distributors financed my September 2001 trip to Tokyo AKA 'The Holiday'. My hard work on such a labour intensive project definitely paid off. The original full-length unedited tapes had fantastic customer feedback, were enjoyed by many gamers at the time and helped shape their future collections and tastes. It was all about sharing the passion. This is how we used to do it. *The original VHS release contained many more titles but I have edited it down to the 15 minutes limit per part and just kept my absolute favourites. All games featured are original releases and not counterfeit. Onto-the-screen-footage. No chitchat. Sega Saturn. RGB Picture. England.
